The Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum Berlin-Dahlem (BGBM, Freie Universität Berlin) is currently coordinating the WP “Construction Plan Strategy” in the ESFRI Life Watch preparatory phase project in close collaboration with the University of Cardiff and the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Systems), the major WP on the Internet Platform for Cybertaxonomy in the NoE EDIT (European Distributed Institute of Taxonomy), the „Integration of Information e-Infrastructures“ workpackage in PESI (Pan-European Speciesdirectories Infrastructure), and Networking Activity 3 (Consolidating the Information Network of European Natural History Collection) in the SYNTHESYS II Network.
The Cichorieae – also known as Lactuceae but the name Cichorieae has priority, sometimes also as Liguliflorae – are perhaps the best-studied and most easily recognizable tribe of the sunflower family, the Compositae or Asteraceae. The Cichorieae Portal is being established as a convenient access to the existing knowledge about this difficult group of plants, based on authoritative taxonomic information. This data portal makes full use of the Common Data Model (CDM) Library, a central component of the Internet Platform for Cybertaxonomy being developed by EDIT workpackage 5.
The technical interface specification of the pipeline between the Catalogue of Life (CoL) and the EDIT platform was created. The document specifies interfaces and their planned implementation for importing data from the CoL into the EDIT platform. It is available at http://dev.e-taxonomy.eu/trac/wiki/CoL2EDITPipeline.
